Support Lidiia’s Healing and Hope

Lidiia is the heart of our family—a kind, caring woman who has always found ways to bring joy to others, even in the hardest times. Originally from Ukraine, she has faced more than her share of challenges: the loss of her husband to ALS, the pain of leaving her home country, and now, the devastation of war in her hometown. Despite not speaking English and feeling isolated here in Texas, Lidiia has always tried to lift others up. She makes beautiful custom jewelry, especially flower earrings and bracelets, often just for the cost of materials, because she believes in spreading happiness even when life is difficult.

Recently, Lidiia’s health took a sudden and serious turn. She was hospitalized for a staph infection and a vein issue in her leg, which led to multiple ER visits. Doctors discovered a hernia that had strangulated her colon, requiring emergency surgery. Afterward, she developed two blood clots, severe bleeding, and dangerously low hemoglobin levels. She needed a second surgery to place a heart filter, and then suffered a C. diff infection. Through all of this, her insurance has not covered many of her medical needs, as she is not a citizen and does not qualify for Medicare. The bills for her hospital stay, home health care, physical therapy, medications, and even a new bed are overwhelming.

My husband and I are her only support here in Texas, with the rest of our family far away. Lidiia’s spirit remains unbroken—she continues to create jewelry and give to others, even as she faces sadness and uncertainty about her future and the fate of her hometown. We are asking for help to cover her urgent medical and living expenses so she can focus on healing. Any support will help us give Lidiia the care and comfort she deserves, and remind her that kindness and resilience are never forgotten.
