Support Lha Tibetan Heritage Society
Founded in Canada, the Lha Tibetan Heritage Society preserves Tibetan culture, empowers individuals, strengthens communities and inspires future generations through education, social services and community programs. We ensure that Tibetan children and families living outside Tibet have access to their native language, education and culture, to remain connected to their heritage, identity and values.
Tibetan language is essential not only for preserving Tibetan culture but also for the study and transmission of some of the world’s most profound Buddhist teachings, timeless philosophical and psychological wisdom developed over the course of centuries, which inspires compassion, ethical living, happiness and non-violence.
Our work builds on the legacy of Lha Charitable Trust, a Tibetan social service organization founded in Dharamshala, India in 1997. Originally a small, grassroots effort supporting Tibetan refugees, Lha Charitable Trust grew over nearly 30 years into one of the largest, most productive organizations in the region. Recently established by former Lha Charitable Trust leaders, Lha Tibetan Heritage Society has registered as a Canadian non-profit to continue the mission.
Our Work Has Already Begun! On July 8, 2026, we opened online Tibetan language classes and teachings for children and adults, led by experienced teachers, scholars and community leaders. Our programs include language, literature, history, cultural heritage, Buddhism, mindfulness, mental well-being, youth leadership, and community education workshops.
We’re hoping to build a strong, lasting foundation for our work in Canada. Your support will help us start and operate this brand new charity, which is urgently needed today. Human rights experts note that China's policies, like the euphemistically named "Law on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress,” seeks to destroy Tibetan language, culture and identity. The situation is dire.
Every donation, big or small, helps keep Tibetan culture alive and passes it on to future generations. Please consider making a one-time donation or becoming a monthly supporter. Visit www.lhacharity.ca for more information.
