Help us Support LGBTIQ Communities Affected by War in Lebanon (March 2026)

We at MOSAIC-MENA are calling on our networks and allies to support LGBTIQ individuals in Lebanon. The country is once again under an ongoing brutal war. As of March 16, 2026, the death toll has reached 886 people killed, 2,141 injured, and over 1,050,000 people displaced, according to official figures from the Disaster Risk Management Unit.

LGBTQIA+ individuals, as usual, face some of the most severe consequences, adding to the structural marginalisation they already experience in the Lebanese context. Queer people often cannot access mainstream shelters because those spaces are often unsafe or hostile, and in many cases, they are not welcome at all.

Studies and reports produced following the 2024 war in Lebanon documented significant protection gaps in the humanitarian response toward LGBTIQ communities, highlighting how existing aid systems frequently fail to address their specific safety and protection needs.

As a result, the queer community faces unique and intensified vulnerabilities. Due to displacement, discrimination, and limited access to safe shelter, many community members are left with nowhere safe to turn, struggling to access basic necessities and the dignity every person deserves.

This fundraiser aims to support LGBTIQ individuals and allies affected by the war by helping cover urgent and essential needs, including:

1. Emergency Cash Assistance: Providing multipurpose financial support

2. Safe Shelter & Housing: Providing temporary accommodation and relocation support

3. Psychosocial Support (PSS) & Case Management: providing Trauma-informed mental health care and emotional support.

4. Transportation & Evacuation: Covering travel and evacuation costs

5. Food assistance: Providing essential food supplies

6. Health Care & Medication: Enhancing access to essential healthcare, including medications.
