Lexi is someone who means so much to so many of us, and over the past few months, her life has taken an unexpected turn. She is now facing a long road ahead and could use the support of her community.
After months of dealing with headaches and facial numbness and exhausting all options with no relief, a brain MRI was ordered. On December 12, 2025, Lexi had a brain scan and immediately found out she had a 5 cm mass near the right base of her skull. On December 19, 2025, a biopsy was completed, and 18 days later she received the official diagnosis. On January 6, 2026, Lexi was diagnosed with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, a rare cancer found in her salivary gland.
Due to the awkward location of the tumor, surgery is deemed too risky. Proton radiation therapy will give Lexi the best chance at a cure. Lexi will undergo seven weeks of treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. The treatment plan will consist of 35 days of proton radiation therapy with seven low-dose chemotherapy infusions.
Over the next few weeks, Lexi and Mitch will travel back and forth to Mayo Clinic for additional appointments. Because Mayo Clinic is out of network for Lexi's insurance, approval is still pending. Until this process is complete, she may be responsible for a larger portion of the costs. This marks the beginning of a long journey, and Lexi’s focus will be on treatment, healing, and taking things one day at a time.
We are lifting Lexi and Mitch up in prayer—for strength, peace, healing, and comfort in the days ahead. Your prayers, kind messages, and encouragement mean so much. For those who feel led to help in additional ways, donations will help support medical expenses, travel, lodging, and time away from work during treatment. Whether through prayer, a donation, or sharing this page, every bit of support makes a difference.
If you’d like to follow along with Lexi’s journey, updates will be shared on Instagram at @theslatterys_.
