Climbing for Change: My Uganda 2026 Challenge
My name is Lewis Hathway, and I’m a Year 10 student preparing for a life-changing opportunity in 2026 — a school trip to Uganda with Amigos and the Kira Farm Development Centre. This project is focused on empowering young Ugandans through vocational training, education, and personal development, and I’m proud to be a part of it.
To help fund this trip and support the important work Amigos does, I’m taking on a two-part physical challenge:
The Climb
I will be climbing Dunkery Beacon (517 metres) ten times, which will match and exceed the height of Mount Stanley — Uganda’s tallest mountain at 5,109 metres.
The Swim
I will also swim a total of 30.5 kilometres to symbolically represent the 30,500 km circumference of the African continent. This is a demanding challenge, and it reflects the scale of both the journey and the cause I’m supporting.
Why I’m Doing This
This trip is not just about travel — it’s about impact. Amigos helps young people in Uganda build sustainable futures for themselves and their communities. The funds I raise will help make my participation in this trip possible, and also go toward supporting the Kira Farm project’s continued work.
I want to challenge myself, grow as a person, and contribute to something greater than myself.
Please consider donating or sharing this page. Every bit of support brings me closer to this goal and helps create real change.
Thank you,
