Support Lew & Karin's Urgent Medical Needs

I'm raising money to benefit Lew Whitney and Karin Cooke; the owners of non-profit Kokolulu Farm and Cancer Retreats Inc., and any donation will help make an impact. The cover photo of Lew and Karin is from their early years on the Farm...now in their 70's with decades of selfless service to those challenged by Cancer; Lew was diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer in Summer of 2023.

For many of the early years, Cancer patients on retreat were not charged, and Lew and Karin ran the operation out of their own pockets. Thousands of people have benefited from Karin's nutritional healing and Lew's teachings of Zhineng Qi Gong.

Now, they urgently need our help.

Karin, an RN, has been caring for Lew as well as tending to the animals and gardens; mostly by herself. They are both exhausted.

The retreat center had to close in August 2023. There has been no income generated since the closure; depleting what savings there were; and they will soon exhaust what little there is left.

Their monthly expenses exceed $ 7,000 a month.

Lew, a Vietnam era Veteran, has been receiving treatment at Tripler VA Medical Center on Oahu as well as the local hospital in Kona. He will be starting a 6-9 week daily radiation series soon at the VA on Oahu, as he cannot manage the pain of a commute back and forth to the local Kona hospital. He suffered injuries during his service and these have been contributing to the intense pain he faces each day. Morphine, his Zhineng Ohana and an attitude of irrepressible gratitude help the pain somewhat but there has been little relief.

One bright spot is that the Farm has a pending sale, however the funds from that will not be available in time to meet their urgent need. We are hoping to raise $ 26,000 to meet immediate concerns and relieve some of the intense stress they are facing.
