Support Levi and Chance After Dog Attack
Donation protected
Please help my friend and Lansing community member, Levi, care for his beloved dog, Chance, who was attacked by a stranger’s aggressive dog that escaped his lead.
Chance has been treated by veterinary professionals and will pull through, but Levi has been left with an enormous veterinary bill.
Here is Levi’s story in his own words:
“On Monday, June 2, 2025, I left for Arizona for a work conference. The same day, I got a phone call from my friend who was taking care of Chance. My friend let me know that Chance, Carl (my friend's dog), and my friend were outside by the garden. He heard a bark, turned around, and noticed there was another dog being walked by a man who was pushing a stroller. Nothing seemed wrong, and he could see the dogs. He then turned around to work in the garden again and heard a yelp and bark. He turned around and saw that the dog ran into his yard with the leash on and was attacking Chance. He ran over there to get the dog to stop, and he then ended up getting bit by the dog as well. The owner of the other dog didn’t do anything to stop the situation. The dog bit Chance in his right and left abdomens. Due to the bites, he also had gas that was built up that had to be taken care of. The dog bit so hard on the left side that it bruised the tissue around his kidney. There were also puncture wounds on the right. Most of the wounds needed to have sutures. The doctors had to do emergency surgery to make sure there were no underlying issues, to release the gas, but that is how they found the bruising around his kidney. During the surgery, the doctors also had to clean the wounds due to bacteria from the other dog. When my friend went over to the owner's house, the man verbally attacked them with racial and homophobic slurs. Currently, due to the funding cuts in Eaton County, animal control was cut from the budget, which is making it hard to find out the process we must take. Currently, we are working with the police to press charges, but the vet bills for Chance are out of this world expensive.”
