My sister, Leslie Maxwell, is 38 years old, a loving wife to Manny and a devoted mother to two boys, Max and Benjamin. Our family’s world was turned upside down when Leslie was recently diagnosed with colon cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes. This past Friday, she underwent major surgery in El Paso, where doctors removed a tumor the size of a small baseball. Right now, Leslie is recovering with our mom by her side helping care for her after surgery, while her husband Manny has had to return home to San Antonio to keep working and provide as much normalcy as possible for their boys during this incredibly difficult time.
Once Leslie is strong enough to travel, she will return home to San Antonio to begin chemotherapy and continue her fight against cancer. As our family navigates this unexpected diagnosis, we are also facing serious financial challenges. Leslie currently does not have health insurance, and we are urgently trying to secure coverage while she is already undergoing treatment. There are still many unknowns, including when she will be able to return to work. Donations will help with medical bills, prescription medications, follow-up care, travel for treatment and recovery, household bills, and daily living expenses while Leslie is unable to work. Most of all, this support will help give Leslie the space to focus on healing, being with her family, and fighting cancer without the constant weight of financial stress.
It’s not easy to ask for help, but our family truly needs it right now. If you feel led to support Leslie in her fight against cancer, we would be deeply grateful. If you cannot donate, sharing her story and keeping her in your prayers means the world to us. Thank you for helping us stand beside Leslie as she fights this battle.
