Hello, my name is Leslie Skinner. I am a single parent at 60-years old. I adopted my great niece, Aliviah when she was 2, she is now 7 years old. She knows me as mom. She has a few existing health issues and delays. She is a vibrant smart little girl with a heart of gold. I am not one to ask for funds. I try my best to do it all on my own. But I was told to put my pride aside for this.

We currently live in an apartment complex which has degraded in the last year, with high crime, shootings, abandoned stolen vehicles and breaking into tenant's mailboxes and not to mention that we have not had a running refrigerator since November 2025. I've put in a work order, but it never got completed. The maintenance closed it out stating it was complete. No communication.

It is not our safe haven anymore. Aliviah is now hiding in places to feel safe. She has anxiety and separation disorders. I have decided it's time to get us out of there. But our lease isn't up until end of July of this year. I need to break the lease as well.

We found a nice home with a fenced yard near her school. We got approved; however, we need to move in March 1st with full rent and deposit $2300.00. We also have to give 30-day notice to current place so we will be paying on rent there $1100.00. I don't have the funds to pay both places and we don't want to lose out on this place. Also, needing extra funds for moving expenses.

This is hard for me to ask. But anything that helps my daughter and I to get out of this unsafe place would be greatly appreciated.
