On behalf of our dear friend, Lesley Looper, we are reaching out to ask for support for her upcoming double lung transplant. Lesley is a devoted wife to Jason, mother of five, sister, and friend, whose days are filled to overflowing with the joy and responsibility of raising and homeschooling her five sons (ages 11, 10, 7, and 3 year old twins).
Over the past two years, Lesley has faced a variety of health challenges which have led to rapid deterioration of her lung function, requiring full-time oxygen support. Having been assessed by specialists around the country, including Mayo Clinic, her health care team has determined that the course of action that will give Lesley the best hope for a renewed quality of life will be a double lung transplant at Duke University Medical Center.
While health insurance will cover a majority of the transplant cost itself, Lesley and Jason will still face enormous out-of-pocket expenses such as:
- Relocating their family of 7 to a rental home in Durham, NC, for several months for pre-operative care, surgery, and post-operative rehabilitation
- Loss of income for Jason for the time he is caring for his wife and children
- Childcare in North Carolina for the days/weeks when Jason needs to be with Lesley and other family/friends are not available
- Ongoing medical expenses before surgery and during her extensive recovery
We humbly ask for your financial support in helping Lesley and her family during this incredibly difficult time. Every donation, no matter the size, will help alleviate the financial burden of her medical expenses, treatments, and the transplant process. It will help ensure that Lesley can focus on what matters most: her recovery, her family, and her future.
