My name is Sarah, and I am raising funds for myself and my 7-year-old son, Leo. I work as a Behavioral Technician for Special Education students, and for years, Leo has struggled with sleep apnea. After a long wait, he is finally scheduled for surgery on February 6th, 2025, to remove his adenoids and tonsils. His airway is already smaller than most, so this surgery is crucial for his health and well-being. As a parent, it’s been heartbreaking to watch him struggle, and I want to do everything I can to support his recovery.
Recently, I experienced a significant reduction in my work hours due to budget cuts in the school district where I work. While I am transitioning to a new agency within the district, they only pay once a month, and I will need to take at least five days off to care for Leo after his surgery. This has created a financial gap that I am struggling to bridge. On top of this, our fridge broke, and repairs are estimated to be costly. We are currently living out of our freezer, which makes it difficult to keep fresh food, and our food assistance doesn’t stretch as far. Our car, which is from 2009, is also becoming increasingly unreliable, adding to our worries.
The funds raised will help cover lost wages so I can pay rent, afford groceries, and get Leo any supplies he needs for his recovery. Any additional donations will go toward repairing our fridge and saving for a reliable used car. Donating would bring huge relief to me and my son, and we greatly appreciate any and all help. I have been reaching out to various supportive services and agencies to bridge this gap and ensure that Leo’s surgery is nothing but positive for us. Your support means I can focus on caring for my son and show up for him with the best support I can.
