Support Leo’s Recovery so he can Ava-ca-go Home
Hi, My name is Victoria and I am Baby Leo’s mommy. On June 19th Leonardo was rushed to the emergency room for the third time in two weeks for having coughing fits and severe wheezing. When we arrived at the hospital, Leo was placed on a nasal cannula but it was not helping and as his health deteriorated the doctors could not stabilize him on any oxygen machine in the ER. It was then that the decision to intubate Baby Leo was made and he has been intubated ever since.
Before this occurred Leo was a happy and healthy 15 month old boy who loved anything food related and the Hey Bear Baby Sensory Fruits on YouTube. He would spend his days crawling around the living room, eating his baby crunchies while YouTube played on the TV.
When Leo was admitted we were advised that he would be at the hospital for a week max since he tested positive for RSV; however, the doctors are coming increasingly worried about Leonardo’s recovery process as he has been intubated for over 30 days with little to no progress. This leaves us all with more questions than answers as Doctors now suspect something underlying like an immune disease that is causing little Leo to be so ill. With Leonardo now in the hospital for over a month now, I had to be placed on an unpaid leave from my job and may not be able to return if Leo’s diagnosis requires full time care.
We would appreciate all the prayers and support that can be given at this time as our future in the pediatric ICU is unknown at this time. I am hoping that Leonardo is able to be diagnosed soon so that we can identify and fight whatever is making him go into respiratory failure. Anything that can be donated will be greatly appreciated as we prepare to battle this mystery illness and go into rehabilitation with our sweet boy.
