Anyone who knows my best friend Hanna knows that her kitty Leo is her whole world. He has gotten her through some of the toughest times in her life, and has been the best companion she could’ve dreamed of. Leo is the first cat my husband fell in love with, and has been a constant presence in Hanna’s student’s lives from running her company out of her home to moving into a studio. Leo has always been there for everyone in every way. He has the biggest heart, both literally and figuratively.
On Thursday, he was rushed to the emergency vet for struggling to breathe. He spent the entirety of the day there in a chamber to help get him oxygen and provided medication to assist with the build up of fluid in his lungs.
X-rays revealed he has an enlarged heart, a common issue in Sphynx cats that appears randomly and with sudden onset. Miraculously, he pulled through and was able to go back home for now. Leo needs to see a cardiologist to determine if there is anything that can be done to hopefully give him more time, or determine if there is nothing that can be done without him suffering. This appointment will be the needed information for Hanna to make either a long term plan for Leo, or an extremely difficult one.
As we know, vet bills are expensive, even more so when it’s a specialist.
Hanna is not someone who asks for help, so I am asking for her. Leo’s cardiologist appointment for an echocardiogram starts around $600 plus medication reaching around $800 with potential to exceed these baseline quotes.
Any help would be beyond appreciated as Hanna takes this next step for her baby. Thank you to anyone for your support be it emotional, spiritual, or more❤️
