Hi everyone,

My name is Tim, and this is my beloved cat, Leon. Leon is the best, most well mannered cat ever and my best friend. We have been together for 16 years now ever since he was a kitten. I found him in a storm drain at work and took him home.

Recently, Leon started coughing/wheezing and having difficulty breathing, so much so he would have to breathe through his mouth. We took him to our vet who did some testing and X-rays and we discovered he had a serious buildup of fluid in his chest cavity (Plural Effusion) which can be caused by a number of illnesses including heart disease or lymphoma. Our veterinarian recommended an urgent Thoracocentesis procedure to drain the fluid in his chest cavity as well as an echocardiogram—a specialized heart ultrasound— amongst other tests to properly diagnose the condition and develop a treatment plan.

We are humbly asking for your help to afford these crucial diagnostic tests and necessary follow-up care.

Our Goal and the Financial Breakdown

The total cost for the thoracocentesis, echocardiogram, consultation with a specialist, various tests and initial medication is a little more than $4,000.00. We have managed to pay for the urgent removal of the fluid in his chest via a credit card so he doesn't suffocate, but we have no way to also pay for the necessary echocardiogram or treatment at this time.

This echocardiogram and treatment is the essential first step toward getting Leon the care he needs to continue living the rest of his life healthy and happy.
