My cousin and her husband Leon are facing the horrific trials that come with the worst diagnosis of... none other than Cancer.

A little over a year ago, Leon suffered a heart attack. This brought on many doctor's appointments and specialists in search of what was happening with his health. After many specialists and a year of missing work, they were given a diagnosis that no one wants to hear, especially in my family after it only being 3 short years since I laid my son to rest from 2 long years of fighting for his life.

Leon is currently facing Malamanoja bone cancer. This diagnosis has completely changed the trajectory of their lives and what their future may or may not look like. Leon, at this point, is unable to return to work. He has an extremely intense battle to fight. My cousin Nikia, being the only income into the home, has been very stressed, as Leon was the sole provider prior to this diagnosis and heart attack.

With this diagnosis, it is making even the simplest daily tasks a struggle. The pain is often so intense that he can't move. Each day is unpredictable, and the physical and emotional toll of this journey has been overwhelming for him and his beautiful wife.

As they try to stay focused on Leon's treatment plan, they shouldn't have to be intimidated by financial survival. Scraping pennies to make their land payment, car payment, and all the necessities to simply just live. Nikia not being able to be by his side during treatments due to financial responsibilities has put a definite strain on her heart. Not to mention the amount she brings in doesn't even come close to the monthly bills due.

Unfortunately, I know all too well how this goes. I watched my son and his wife struggle to make ends meet all the while my son was fighting for survival with his life. No loved one should have to go through that amount of pain and stress. They are both extremely hard workers and always have been. The process of having to be out of work has really put such an enormous burden on both of them. When in all reality, they should be able to deal with the health situation without the financial stress at the same time.

I'm asking for any support that you are capable of contributing. There is no small donation; it all adds up. I wish I had the funds to help them, but I don't. This is my way of trying to help lift some of the burden off their hearts and minds during this unimaginable time in their lives.

Leon is an amazing Christian man! This man drove from Guthrie, Oklahoma to Alvarado during the bad freeze we had about four years ago when Alvarado's city pipes busted and no one had any water. We were all frozen in for a little over a week.

He brought water, dog food, milk, and bread from Oklahoma to my parent's house, then turned around and went back home. That, my friends, was a heart led by Jesus. Now is our time to repay him a little bit of that love back.
