Our family is going through something we never imagined we would face.

My sister Rebecca is only 20 years old and recently became a medical assistant, working so hard to start her career and build a future for her little family. Just as she received a job offer, everything changed. Her one-year-old son, Leonel Perdomo Ramirez, was diagnosed with leukemia.

Nothing could have prepared us for this. Cancer is something we had never experienced in our family before, and hearing those words has turned our world upside down.

Leonel is now fighting a battle no child should ever have to face. Between hospital stays, treatments, and constant care, Rebecca has had to put everything on hold to be by her son’s side. As a mother, her focus is where it needs to be—on Leonel.

Her partner, Jacob, has been doing everything he can to support them, but the financial burden is quickly becoming overwhelming. With missed work, medical needs, daily expenses, and the cost of simply trying to get through each day, it has become more than they can carry alone.
