Dear Family and Friends,

I am writing this from the ICU of St. Francis in Wichita. Leo has been treating a wound in his left foot for almost 4 years. The osteomyelitis raised its evil horns and created a flesh-eating new wound overnight. This became a very critical situation and he was airlifted to Wichita last night.

Today, we have been waiting for a new MRI to see how far the osteomyelitis has infected and attacked his bones. The doctors cannot save his foot . Depending on the MRI results, Leo will go into surgery in the next day or two for an amputation. Our goal is for the amputation to be below the knee. This can provide him with hope to walk.

Because I am close by and have some knowledge of the medical field, I am assisting him with all of his medical and financial needs. This also allows our boys to focus on their health situations that they are dealing with.

This hardship is putting a financial strain on our family. Medical costs and supplies, medication, loss of wages, transportation costs for out-of-town appointments, meals, and the regular monthly bills continue to add up.
