Support Leo in Fighting Stage 2B Hodgkin Lymphoma Cancer
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
I am reaching out with a heavy heart on behalf of my brother Leonidas, who is starting his fight against Stage 2B Hodgkin Lymphoma cancer at the age of 15. If you know me or any of my brothers, you know Leo. If you don’t know him, I can tell you that he has been the light of everyone’s lives around him, always being the funniest, most spirited, and caring family member in any situation, including right now. Leo has dedicated almost all his life to baseball, from T-Ball and Little League to now playing Club and Varsity baseball for Heritage HS in Vancouver, WA. His sophomore season was cut very short due to this battle, and it will be a lengthy fight before we can see him traveling with his team and playing his heart out on the field again.
In the late fall and winter months, Leo developed a chronic dry cough that was believed to be a viral infection, allergies, or asthma. After months of taking allergy medicine, being prescribed an inhaler, having night sweats, assessments, and asking countless questions, a chest x-ray was ordered on March 25, 2024. The scan showed that “white matter” was formed in his chest, and he was sent to receive a CT scan on March 27th. Later that day, our family received a call from the doctor explaining that they found a mass near his left lung the size of an orange. On March 29th, Leo was admitted to OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital for four days, where he went through more x-rays, CT and PET scans, and biopsies. After his second biopsy, on April 11th, we received his official diagnosis of Stage 2B (Bulky disease) Hodgkin Lymphoma Cancer. Bulky disease is described as tumors in the chest area that consume ⅓ or more as wide as the chest area and require more intensive treatment.
On Thursday, April 18th, Leo will start his fight with his first round of Chemotherapy, which will span over the next six months. After our mom beat Thyroid Cancer 12 years ago, this is something our family never expected to experience again, especially for Leo at 15 years old.
Your donations will help with medical expenses and treatment, provide our parents with peace of mind, and relieve much of the financial burden of living and travel expenses to enable them to prioritize Leo’s recovery. No donation is too little; every penny brings our family more hope and strength during this trying time. If you are unable to donate, sharing this GoFundMe with your friends, family, and network and donations in any form is hugely appreciated. Any ounce of support for Leo means so so so much.
Please support us in Leo’s fight against cancer as he looks forward to a healthier future as he overcomes this stage of life with power and strength.
With overwhelming appreciation,
Leo,
his siblings –Ani, Jander, Vinh, Eddie,
and parents –Bonnie & Devin.
