On Saturday, what was meant to be a peaceful family walk home from Quailwood Park turned into a devastating nightmare. While crossing at a crosswalk, the family's beloved dog was struck by an oncoming vehicle. When the collision occurred, she was on a leash and walking just inches behind the family (including two toddlers).
The driver later claimed he believed the dog was off-leash. He stopped briefly to complain about damage to his vehicle and offered no support before leaving the scene. The family was left in shock, especially the young children who witnessed everything.
A tourniquet was quickly applied to the dog's severely injured hind leg, which likely saved her life before she was rushed to the local animal hospital. Unfortunately, the injury was too severe, and her leg had to be amputated.
She is now home and beginning the long journey of recovery. There are many more vet visits and expenses ahead, but the outpouring of love from the community has meant the world. Any contributions toward her current and future medical care are deeply appreciated.
