Lena Banana Pancakes was adopted in January. Pretty quickly I figured out that she can’t hear so I had it checked out and she has tumors in her ears and nasty ear infections with no way to treat them.

The first thing to do is a CT scan ($2,900). While she is under they will see how the tumors are intertwined with other things in her ears. They will also test part of the tumors to see how fast growing they are and test the ear infections to see if this is something easily cured. Why? First and foremost I want her to hear again but if the tumors are fast growing or the ear infection is impossible to get rid of, then they need to take out the whole ear canal. In talking with the specialist on March 16, she said it’s not likely she will hear again but it’s something they will aim for.

Surgery ($6,800) is happening no matter what they find as the CT scan will give us more direction on what’s possible and what’s not. It’s called a Total Ear Canal Ablation (TECA). Like any quote, they are guessing on the range $$ but they think it will be the high end since it’s such an involved surgery (see attached quotes).

Total to raise is $9700 (double gulp). Thanks in advance to everyone that gives to Lena’s glow up! Hopefully she can hear again but even if she doesn’t, she won’t have the terrible ear infections with no way of treating them.
