Hello world, my name is Lela (Leeluh) Jane Duncan and I was born with a CHD Congenital Heart Disease that is referred to as AVSD Unbalanced Complete Atrioventricular Septal Defect, (DORV) Double Outlet Right Ventricular, and (HLHS) Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. In other words both of the valves to my heart is on one side, there is a hole in the center of my heart, the valves between the heart’s chambers don’t form correctly and the left side of my heart is too small and doesn’t work properly. My parents are making this post to bring awareness to CHD and to relay the information to close friends and family. With strong parents beside me, I will grow strong too. Every day is a blessing, and we’re grateful for the gift of life. My condition wasn’t noticed until I was born. After diagnosis I was expected to be on assistance until urgent surgery but with the Grace of God I was able to fight off the assistance of oxygen and feeding tube within days. My parents are thankful for the week they had to cuddle me at home but unfortunately I am now in the picu waiting to have the 1st of my 3 open heart surgeries. Because my surgeries are taking place in another city, my parents will be spending a lot of time away from home and work to be by my side. If you’d like to support my journey, here is my GoFundMe.
