Support Lei's Fight Against Acute Myeloid Leukemia

April 29/25
Hi everyone,

Thank you all so much for your continued support, love, and prayers for mom during this incredibly difficult time. We wanted to share an important update on her treatment journey.

Mom recently completed her first round of chemotherapy, but unfortunately, the leukemia cells did not respond as we had hoped. Even more concerning, the cancer cells have started to morph, which has shifted her condition from intermediate risk to high risk.

Because of this, her medical team is adjusting the treatment plan. She will be undergoing another, more aggressive round of chemotherapy starting this Thursday with a higher dosage and an additional chemotherapy drug. The road ahead is going to be even more challenging, but we remain hopeful and are standing by her every step of the way.

On a more positive note, we received some encouraging news — Auntie Tash has been identified as a 10/10 match for a bone marrow transplant. This is a huge blessing, and her doctors are now evaluating transplant options as part of the next phase in her care.

Please continue to keep Mom in your thoughts and prayers. Your donations, shares, and kind words mean the world to us — they give us strength and help ease some of the financial burden during this critical time.

With love and gratitude, friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

I’m reaching out to you with a heavy heart to share that my incredible and loving mother, Leianna, was recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and admitted to the Arthur Childs Cancer Hospital in Calgary at the beginning of March. As she faces this unexpected and challenging journey, we are doing everything we can to support her, but we need your help.

Leianna has always been the one to put others before herself. She is a loving mother, wife, and friend who would do anything to help those she cares about. Unfortunately, this illness has come at a time when both of my parents do not have jobs with benefits. This has put an incredible strain on their finances, as medical expenses, travel to and from the hospital, and basic living costs are piling up. Mom will likely miss the wedding of my youngest sister and has just welcomed her first grandson into the world and will not be able to be in Medicine Hat for his first months.

Her treatment requires her to be inpatient for the entirety of her chemo treatments. (3 more months if the leukemia cells are no longer in her marrow) If she qualifies for a bone marrow transplant, she will be outpatient after the transplant- but will have to stay within 15 minutes of the hospital in Calgary for 3 months afterwards. Obviously these numbers stretch if things aren't going so well.

How your support can make a difference:

Medical Expenses: If mom is outpatient, her nausea medications and other medications that will make her time easier will not be covered. They are covered only while she is inpatient and they are expensive.

Living expenses: With both of my parents unable to work, they’re facing the burden of lost income while still needing to maintain a household and accommodation in a different city,

Travel: We are constantly traveling to the hospital, and the associated costs are adding up quickly.
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards easing these financial burdens so Leianna can focus on her health and recovery and the family will have the stress of the financial burden lifted. Your generosity will not only help cover medical expenses but also give my parents one less thing to worry about during this difficult time.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this campaign with your friends and family. Your support, whether it’s through donations, well wishes, or simply sharing this story, means the world to us.

It takes a lot to ask others for help, and know that we would not be asking if it wasn't completely needed.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing by Leianna as she fights this battle. Together, we can give her the strength and support she needs to overcome this.

Another way to help is to donate blood. Leukaemia patients are receiving a bag of blood every two days.

If you cannot donate PLEASE, please try to take some time out of your day to use your body and be SO SO grateful for it getting you through your day to day and operating at tip top shape. Try a new fitness class, go kayak, or for the love of god- have a drink.

With gratitude and so much love,
Levi
