Support Leila's Wine Studies Abroad

Hi friends, family, and kind supporters,

My name is Leila Horsman, and this August I’ll be moving to Europe to begin WINTOUR - a 2-year International Master’s in Wine Tourism Transitions and Innovations. Throughout the program, I’ll study at Universitat Rovira i Virgili in Spain, Université de Bordeaux in France, and Universidade do Porto in Portugal. The curriculum combines academic courses in wine production, sustainable tourism, and cultural storytelling with hands-on internships - including a wine tourism placement, a harvest-time winemaking internship, and a professional industry internship where I’ll complete my Master’s thesis. This immersive experience will allow me to learn directly from 3 of the world’s most renowned wine regions while building the skills to make a lasting impact in the industry.

Why this program matters to me:

I discovered my passion for wine after I began working at O’Looney’s Wine & Liquor in October 2023. After graduating with my Marketing degree, I wasn’t entirely sure where my career would lead. But working alongside incredible mentors quickly opened my eyes to the depth, beauty, and cultural significance of this industry.

In early 2024, I learned about the WINTOUR program - a highly competitive opportunity that accepts fewer than 30 students each year. I was nervous about my chances, but even more determined to try. Wine has a rare ability to connect people, tell stories, and preserve the heritage of the places it comes from. It’s one of the most inspiring and dynamic industries I’ve ever experienced. This program is the perfect chance to deepen my knowledge and gain hands-on experience in three of the world’s most renowned wine regions.

What your support will help cover:

As a self-funded student, I’m responsible for tuition, housing, travel, and living expenses across three countries. Despite careful budgeting and personal savings, I’m facing a funding gap. Your support will help ensure I can stay focused on my studies and take full advantage of this life-changing program.
