Leila is known by many for her tenacious activity within the dog rescue community. She's a tireless advocate for animals of all kinds, but she is particularly focused on dogs with special needs. She founded a non-profit called Treasure's Hope to assist rescues with the costs of caring for special needs pets until they find their forever homes. Leila is an amazing friend, daughter, and pet mom. While managing the non-profit, her house, and working a full-time job, she manages to take excellent care of her four dogs (one senior and three special needs): Athena, Twinkles, Treasure, and Squishy, and her parrot Coco.
Unfortunately, Leila got the news that no one ever wants to receive: she was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer and will need to undergo treatment while caring for her pets and her home. As we all know, health insurance in America does not protect Americans from incurring serious debt from copays, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket expenses.
For Leila, this difficult diagnosis could not have come at a worse time as several of her special needs pets have rising medical expenses and her home is in need of some modifications to accommodate her aging and special needs pets. She will be closing Treasure's Hope for the time being to focus on her health and her family. This was a devastating decision for her as she has put so much effort into helping dogs in need.
Leila is such a hard worker and a good person. All donations will be used by Leila to pay her bills related to her illness and any expenses required to maintain her pets and her home. Please consider donating to her campaign to help her through this difficult time.
