Support Leigh Ann Donaldson’s Battle Against Breast Cancer

Donation protected
Hello Everyone! My name is Lauren Kruso. I am starting this campaign on behalf of my very good friend, Leighann Donaldson. I have known Leighann for almost 10 years and she is one of those friends who you never let go of. Leighann is 34 years old and has lived in the Dayton, Ohio area her whole life. Unfortunately, Leighann was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in March of 2024. She is one of the most authentically down-to-earth people I've ever met. She is an independent and strong woman and cares deeply for her 14-year-old son, Ja'vion. She has been the most dedicated single mother to her son over the years, working and going to school. She only wants the best for her son and their small family together. She has worked her way up to supervisor at a local Italian restaurant in the Dayton area, and has a bright future with the company for new management opportunities. Unfortunately, she does not qualify for Short Term Disability at this time, and is unable to take off work.

Since the diagnosis back in March, Leighann has had to undergo a double mastectomy in May of 2024 and was unable to take the recommended time off work due to having to work to be able to provide for her son and herself. She has had post-surgical complications because of returning to work and has had to have her chemotherapy treatment delayed.

As a single mother, Leighann cannot afford not to work. It will be difficult for her body to heal appropriately as long as she has this financial stress over her head during this difficult time. The point of this campaign is to help alleviate some of that stress and allow her to heal at home with her son taken care of.

Leighann still has a long road ahead of her in regards to her treatment course. Her oncology team has suggested 6 weeks of chemotherapy and 5 weeks of radiation treatment. She will also need a second surgery to reconstruct her breast after her treatment is complete and she is fully healed.

This campaign is for Leighann to be able to take the appropriate amount of time off work so that she may heal fully, to be able to be the mother, sister, daughter, and friend, and to be able to beat cancer. As suggested by her medical team, we are launching this campaign to help offload some of this financial stress.

Our goal is $12,500 and these funds would go towards allowing Leighann to take enough time off work and to cover monthly bills, medical expenses, such as a Cold Cap, which helps protect her hair during chemotherapy, and also give her 4 months off work to rest and heal.

I appreciate the time you took to read this. Please help us reach our goal in any way you can! Everything helps. Please keep Leighann and her son in your thoughts at this time. Share our campaign post!
