Help Leighanna Recover from a Serious Car Accident

On the evening of October 10th, Leighanna Belanger was involved in a devastating car accident with 2 other teens on Ferry Road in Saco. At approximately 6:44 PM, Leighanna was taken by ambulance to the ER at Maine Medical Center. From there, she was admitted to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital for further treatment. After several difficult days, she was discharged on Monday, October 14th.

Leighanna's injuries are severe and will require a long road to recovery. She sustained:

A broken neck, which will keep her in a neck brace for at least 3 months

Three broken ribs

Bruising to her kidney and liver

A broken elbow

Nerve damage to her right shoulder

Her head was split open, requiring it to be sutured shut

In addition to her own challenges, Leighanna has three younger siblings, and the family is now facing the difficult task of balancing medical care with caring for all the children. Her mother Ashley will need to take time off work to ensure Leighanna gets the attention and support she needs, adding further financial strain.

Leighanna's family is facing mounting medical bills, along with the costs of physical therapy, neurological visits as well as the cost of medications.
