Help Leif Saya Recover After Life-Threatening Infection
Who We Are
We are friends and supporters of Leif Saya, raising funds to help him through a sudden and severe medical crisis.
What Happened
Two months ago, Leif had oral surgery but was not given antibiotics. An infection developed and spread throughout his body, eventually reaching his heart. His septicemia went undiagnosed until Leif collapsed early this week of December 1st, and was emergency-medevacked to Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, where he underwent two days of open-heart surgery. His chest is now closed up and he is on life support, heavily sedated, and breathing on a ventilator.
Why We’re Fundraising
Leif has Medicaid, but there are still substantial expenses—including the cost of medevac, multiple surgeries, an expected six-week hospital stay, and post-operative rehabilitation. The total cost is unknown, but we are starting with a hopefully achievable goal of $7,500 to help manage the immediate financial strain.
How the Funds Will Be Used
—Medical bills not covered by Medicaid
—Medevac costs
—Housing and transport in Seattle so his father Greg can stay near Leif during recovery
—Support for ongoing rehab and recovery needs
How You Can Help
Every donation—large or small—helps ease the enormous burden on Leif and Greg during this terrifying and uncertain time. Your support allows them to focus on healing instead of financial stress. Let’s get Leif back on the fiddle.
Thank you for standing with them.
