Support Legendary Musician Deepak Thapa in His Fight for Life.

Deepak Thapa is a true legend in Nepali music — a gifted singer, composer, arranger, and proud member of the iconic band The Prism. Born in Bhairahawa to Captain Motilal Thapa and Amrita Thapa, Deepak spent his childhood in Hong Kong, where he studied classical guitar at Tom Lee Music Center. From an early age, his passion and dedication to music shaped the remarkable artist we celebrate today.

He is best known as the singer of the timeless hit “Bidesh Jaane Mayaalu Timilai” and the creative force behind many beloved songs, including composing and arranging numerous chart-topping tracks. His song “Oh mero Priyatam,” beautifully sung by Sukmit Gurung, is another testament to his extraordinary talent. Throughout his career, Deepak has composed and arranged music for many renowned artists, leaving an unforgettable mark on the Nepali music industry.

Today, our legendary musician is facing the toughest battle of his life. Deepak Thapa is suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Stage 5 and is currently undergoing dialysis three times a week. His doctors have advised a kidney transplant as the best hope for his survival and recovery.

Because of his ongoing treatments and frequent dialysis sessions, Deepak does not have the time or physical strength to continue working and creating music as he once did. This has made it extremely difficult for him to cover his mounting medical expenses.

When I recently spoke with Deepak, I was deeply moved by his spirit. Despite everything he is going through, he was lively, full of energy, and determined to recover. His will to live and his passion for music remain stronger than ever. He shared that once he regains his health, he plans to create many more beautiful songs for all of us. His love for music has never faded — it continues to inspire everyone around him.

दीपक थापा नेपाली संगीतका साँच्चिकै महान कलाकार हुनुहुन्छ — एक प्रतिभाशाली गायक, संगीतकार, अरेन्जर र प्रतिष्ठित ब्यान्ड The Prism का गर्वित सदस्य। भैरहवामा कप्तान मोतीलाल थापा र अमृता थापाका सुपुत्रका रूपमा जन्मिएका दीपकले आफ्नो बाल्यकाल हङकङमा बिताउनुभयो, जहाँ उहाँले Tom Lee Music Center मा क्लासिकल गितारको अध्ययन गर्नुभयो। प्रारम्भिक उमेरदेखि नै उहाँको संगीतप्रतिको लगन र समर्पणले आज हामीले मन पराउने असाधारण कलाकारको रूपरेखा तयार पारेको हो।

आज, हाम्रो महानायक संगीतकार जीवनको सबैभन्दा कठिन लडाइँसँग जुध्दै हुनुहुन्छ। दीपक थापा क्रोनिक किड्नी डिजिज (CKD) स्टेज ५ बाट पीडित हुनुहुन्छ र हाल साता तीनपटक डायलसिस गराउँदै हुनुहुन्छ। उहाँका डाक्टरहरूले किड्नी ट्रान्सप्लान्ट नै उहाँको स्वास्थ्य र जीवनको लागि उत्तम उपाय भएको बताएका छन्।

आवश्यक उपचार र नियमित डायलसिसका कारण, दीपकले अब अघिल्लो जस्तो संगीत सिर्जना गर्ने समय वा शारीरिक क्षमता पाउनुहुँदैन। यसले उहाँको बढ्दो चिकित्सकीय खर्च पूरा गर्न निकै कठिनाइ निम्त्याएको छ।

हालै उहाँसँग कुराकानी गर्दा म उहाँको आत्मबलले अत्यन्त प्रभावित भएँ। सबै पीडा र चुनौतीहरूका बाबजुद, उहाँ जीवन्त, ऊर्जावान र स्वास्थ्य सुधारको दृढ संकल्पयुक्त हुनुहुन्छ। उहाँको संगीतप्रतिको माया र जीवनप्रति आशा अझै बलियो छ। उहाँले भन्नुभयो, स्वास्थ्य फर्किएपछि अझ धेरै सुन्दर गीत सिर्जना गर्ने योजना हुनुहुन्छ। संगीतप्रतिको उहाँको प्रेम कहिल्यै मेटिएको छैन — यो सबै वरिपरिका मानिसहरूलाई प्रेरणा दिन्छ।
