Earlier this year, a small group of rental owners retained legal counsel and met directly with the Board to challenge the proposed fee structure. As a result of those efforts, the Board agreed to delay implementation of the increased rental fees until at least 2027, which benefits all current and future rental owners in the community.

To be fully transparent, the legal work required to achieve this outcome resulted in a total attorney bill of $14,950 (discounted from $16,200 by the attorney to help us out). Seven owners covered the first $4950 expense personally in order to move the issue forward quickly and effectively. That leaves us with a $10,000 bill remaining.

Because the benefit of this outcome extends well beyond those five owners, we are opening a voluntary cost-sharing request for any rental owners who wish to contribute toward these legal expenses and help establish a modest reserve should similar issues arise again in the future.

Participation is completely optional. That said, if you feel this delay was meaningful and helped protect your rental rights or future flexibility, we would sincerely appreciate your support.

To make this easy, suggested (but optional) contribution levels are:

$250 – Supporter contribution

$500 – Fair-share contribution

$1,000+ – Leadership contribution

We believe this approach is fair, transparent, and helps ensure that the responsibility of protecting rental interests does not fall on a very small group of owners alone—especially with the possibility of these issues resurfacing in 2027.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you to everyone who has stayed engaged and supportive throughout this process.

The $10,000 bill is due on Jan 30 so we need to raise funds by January 27 to provide enough time to transfer and pay the attorney.

Best regards,

Juliana (on behalf of the original group of 7 owners funding)
