Support Legal Battle Against Predatory Landlord

We are about to engage in an epic "Davida & Goliath" legal battle against a predatory landlord that owns & manages thousands of properties in Central Indiana. They are trying to force the elderly, disabled widow of a Vietnam Veteran out of the home she lived in before they ever became associated with the building she lives in. That elderly, disabled widow is my mother.

After years of documented warranty of habitability, covenant of quiet enjoyment, ADA, and FHA violations, we finally took action to hold them accountable by reporting them to state and local oversight authorities, including the Indiana Attorney General's Office.

Weeks after their behavior toward my elderly, disabled mother became so egregious that it warranted a personal call from the Section Chief of the Attorney General's Homeowner Protection Unit first thing on a Monday morning, MiddleTown Property Group retaliated against her by refusing to renew her lease. Months later, they threatened to sue us for defamation, presumably for starting a tenants' rights group to help thousands of victims better understand their rights and seek justice themselves (www.middletownpropertygroupsucks.com). Despite attempts to settle the matter amicably, they refuse to relent in trying to force my mother out of the home she lived in before they ever became associated with this building.

I have no idea how much this legal battle will ultimately cost. While I intend to do as much of the paperwork and such as I can myself, there's no question that retaining counsel is absolutely necessary at this point. Attorney's fees could range anywhere from a couple thousand dollars to $5,000 or more. It all depends on how hard and long they try to fight, despite having no legal legs to stand on. Their behavior has been egregiously unlawful, even in a state like Indiana that has such incredibly weak tenants' rights protections.

I need your help. My elderly, disabled mother needs your help. Please help. This isn't just about keeping my mother in her home. This property management company has been preying on innocent, vulnerable Hoosiers for years. They were fined tens of thousands of dollars by the Indiana Attorney General's office less than two years ago and there's another investigation that's been ongoing for almost a year as a result of our complaint. There's a Facebook group comprised of thousands of their victims. They have destroyed countless lives without remorse and their business practices only became more egregiously predatory after being fined in the fall of 2023.

If we pursue and win this case, it will set a precedent for other victims to be able to do the same and perhaps even help to bring about the class action lawsuit I've been working for almost a year to organize on behalf of hundreds of other victims.
