Help a Gay Veteran Stand Up for His Civil Rights

Donation protected
Hello, and thank you so much for being here. Whether you donate, share this page, or simply offer a moment of kindness, it truly means more than I can express.

Because of legal restrictions, I can only share certain details. But I will tell you as much as I’m allowed, and I hope my story resonates with anyone who believes in dignity, equality, and justice.

Why I’m Asking for Help

Since 2019, I’ve worked for one of the largest organizations in the United States, a nationwide company with over 600,000 employees. With nearly unlimited resources at their disposal, they can fund litigation endlessly. I cannot.

In June 2025, I filed a legal action against my employer for harassment and discrimination targeting my protected civil rights. For more than two years, I endured a hostile work environment where my sexual orientation and serious health condition became targets for bullying, humiliation, and obstruction.

Some of what I experienced includes:

• Multiple aggressive verbal assaults - sometimes inches from my face
• Repeated unwanted, intrusive harassment about my sexual orientation
• A homophobic slur vandalized on company property that I had to face for 154 days
• Company property soaked in uncontained biological waste – I was forced to clean it myself after requests for help were denied
• A direct threat to my life, even after supervisors refused my requests to be separated from my harasser

I reported every incident - verbally and in writing - to supervisors, managers, and union stewards. Nothing was done to protect my dignity, safety, or civil rights.

Who I Am

My name is Jason. I’m a 42-year-old gay veteran, a single-income household, dog dad to my best friend Kahlua, and an introverted, creative soul who loves photography and pickleball.

My fight for my civil rights echoes a lifetime of surviving hardship. Growing up in a household of 14 children marked by poverty, extreme religious control, neglect, and severe abuse shaped my early existence, but I refused to let it break me.

At 17, I joined the U.S. Air Force, serving five years as an A.G.E. mechanic and spending three of those years in the Base Honor Guard, where I:

• Performed Military Funeral Honors for fallen service members, veterans, and retirees
• Supported official base events
• Participated in the Base Honor Guard Drill Team to recruit, inspire, and uphold public trust

After my service, I used my G.I. Bill to pursue an education, worked in retail management, property management, and eventually earned the position I hold today.

Trauma leaves scars that follow you through life. I don’t enjoy revisiting my past, but I share it because the emotional wounds of my childhood resurfaced during the hostile work environment I endured as an adult. No one deserves to be bullied, degraded, or stripped of their dignity - not at work, not anywhere.

Everyone has a story. This is mine, and I’m sharing it to connect with those who believe in fairness, empathy, and the basic rights we all deserve.

Where My Case Stands Now

Thanks to compassionate donors earlier this year, I raised $5,000, which allowed me to secure legal representation. I’ve since added $3,000 of my own income - a total of $8,000 invested in pursuing justice.

But now the case has reached a critical point.

As of December 2, 2025, I have 30 days to raise the funds required to move my case forward and get it in front of a judge. I simply cannot do this alone.

Legal Costs Ahead

• $8,500 — Required immediately to advance the case
• $25,000–$30,000 — Estimated cost to see the case through trial

I’ve spent my life fighting to reclaim self-worth and peace. I’m prepared to fight this violation of my civil rights with the same determination - but I need help to keep going.

How You Can Make a Difference

If my story moves you, any contribution - no matter the size - will bring me one step closer to ending this harassment and holding those responsible accountable.

Your support helps protect not just my rights, but the rights of anyone who has felt powerless in the face of discrimination.

Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and belief that dignity matters.

With deep gratitude,
Jason & Kahlua
