The Legacy Forest Defense Coalition is leading the fight to protect the remaining 92,000 acres of unprotected, state-owned legacy forests in the lowlands of Western Washington. With a small staff of just three employees, LFDC has been able to save dozens of at-risk forests since we were created in 2023.

Five years ago, there were no environmental nonprofits ground-truthing DNR timber sales. No one was hiking into remote cut blocks to document rare ecosystems. No one was exposing proposed clearcuts in old, naturally regenerated forests that communities thought were protected. Because of our supporters, that’s no longer the story.

With your support, LFDC has uncovered unlawful logging plans, halted destructive timber sales, brought community voices into state-level decision-making, and protected irreplaceable habitat for threatened wildlife.
