Support Lee's Recovery and Medical Expenses

Creating a GFM is pretty much the last thing I wanted to do for this, but here we are! Many of you know that last July, the non-profit legacy organization I worked at for the last 5 years imploded, giving us all 4 hours notice that our lives were being upended. They did not compensate us the 30 days worth of wages they owed us, or any of our accrued PTO (I had about 5 weeks worth saved…). I lost my job, my health insurance at an extremely inconvenient time, and have been building a new practice from scratch ever since.

Unfortunately, this is a very slow process, and I am still working less than half time, while still paying my mortgage, car payment, marketplace health premium, and so on. Even with the health insurance I have, the cost of my upcoming surgery is going to be pretty staggering for me while in this position.

I have been hustling hard since July, and have been doing an ok job keeping my head above water, but in this particular situation, I could really benefit from a lil extra support if you happen to have the means. This is not something I want anyone to give towards if you are in a precarious position yourself, as I know things are rough for many of us right now, but if you’ve got a few bucks to send my way, it would sure help me to feel less stressed about the looming costs of this, as well as having to take a minimum of 2 weeks off work, and 8 weeks of slow recovery.

My estimated surgical out of pocket costs will be $3333.56. My current out of pocket medical expenses since the beginning of this year has been $913. I am anticipating some other costs for my pre-op, post-op, and likely another large bill later this year for another sleep apnea-related device I will need to purchase. This is where the rounding up to $4500 total has come from.
