Hi! My name is Lindsey, but I go by Lee. I have gastroparesis and GERD, and have had severe weight fluctuations all through my life. I struggle to gain and maintain weight. My conditions make it nearly impossible to eat (due to extreme nausea and vomiting), so I drop weight frequently, which is life-threatening for me if left untreated.

My healthcare ran out in May 2024, and since then, I spent an entire year with no healthcare and not seeing a doctor for anything because I couldn’t afford it. My condition got so bad recently that I finally got healthcare (mid-June 2025), but my policy doesn’t go into effect until July 1, 2025. I was unable to wait until July 1 to come into the hospital because I was so sick that I dropped from 142 lbs to 122 lbs in just over a month. I came in on Wednesday, June 18th, extremely dehydrated and literally starving. I was given a feeding tube and fluids for emergency nutritional care.

Unfortunately, since my insurance isn’t active until July 1, that means my entire visit is going to be paid out-of-pocket, and it is in the thousands. I cannot afford this. The care that I am getting is life-saving. Every donation that I receive is going towards paying off my current hospital bill and helping to pay for future healthcare to help me figure out what is wrong with me and why I am so sick (considering that my doctors do not think that my gastric issues stop at gastroparesis and GERD).

I have an appointment with one of the best gastroenterologists in the state on July 17, 2025. Unfortunately, I will need a feeding tube to get me to that date because I will not be able to go without it. This is extremely expensive. Thank you so much for your help.
