Help Leeann Strassburg Recover and Heal
Hi everyone,
This is a difficult post to write, as asking for help doesn’t come easy — but sometimes life throws us curveballs that we just can’t handle alone, no matter how hard we try!
My name is Leeann Strassburg & I’m 46 years old. I had my hip replaced 4/15/25 due to deterioration caused by the auto immune diagnosis I have of ankylosing spondylitis. I am now facing a long road of recovery, including extensive physical therapy and ongoing medical care. While doing everything I can to heal and stay positive, the financial burden is becoming overwhelming as I haven’t been able to work in over 2 years!!
We have been covering as much as we can out of pocket, on credit cards, even dipping into my 401k and receiving some financial support from my parents & mother-in-law. Despite all this, the medical bills keep adding up — from surgery costs (this is the 3rd surgery on same hip in 15 months) to follow-up visits, and physical therapy sessions (this is my 3rd round of PT in 15 months) that are crucial for my full recovery.
We’re setting up this GoFundMe to help ease that burden. Any amount — big or small — will go directly toward my medical bills and physical therapy sessions. Initially my personal PT felt I would need 12 weeks of physical therapy, 3 times a week, but now that I’m almost halfway through
the 12 weeks I can say it will definitely be more like 16 weeks because of my slow recovery, as well as being so incredibly weak and deconditioned going into this surgery!! We are doing self-pay for physical therapy ($110 each session) because our insurance co-pay is more expensive than paying on our own.
I’ve been on a walker outside of the house now for a year and a half and even now, 5 weeks after surgery, I’m still having to use it. I’m also having to use it 1/2 the time inside the house right now! My ultimate long-term goal is to get off the walker, but in the meantime, I would like to get to where I could walk 5 to 10 minutes at a time with it, as I’m at 3 minutes presently!
If you’re not in a position to give, sharing this with others would mean the world to us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, prayers, and generosity!!
With much gratitude,
Leeann &Brett Strassburg
