Hello, my name is Lea. I'm 28 and I am disabled. I have POTS, hEDS, and RA, and I am mentally disabled as well. I use a cane and a wheelchair for my mobility aids because I pass out, and some days I physically cannot get up and walk, not without help. I have a port in my chest, and I get IV fluids to help me with flare-ups and ease some of the symptoms while helping me stay hydrated.

I'm currently in the process of getting my disability back in order again, but I need help. I'm facing homelessness come the 31st of August 2025 if I can't get any help. I have two caseworkers that have been working with me and trying to help me, but due to current cuts and finance chops to shelters and government funding, the resources that were once there are no longer there or do not offer a stable temporary stay. The shelters I have access to are only first come, first serve and for a max stay of 7 days. However, I have no way of getting to them due to lack of transportation because they are 4 hours away from me. I am unable to drive, nor do I have a car.

I have access to food through getting EBT; I was just approved for this on Saturday the 9th. But I really need help with getting an apartment or a roof over my head till my check starts for my SSID. I have two cats, Tigger and Grimms, and they mean the world to me. I want to bring them with me because if they stay here, they will be put in a shelter, and they are both my babies; they are all I have. They are my family, and I have raised them since I saved them as kittens from a sewer drain and bottle-fed them.

The amount I am trying to reach will be enough to set up a payment for a deposit and first month's rent, as well as enough to set up power and utilities. It will be enough to give me shelter for 2 months until my income starts again. As well as a way to provide food and litter for my cats. It would be a saving grace for me and my kitties. I just really need some help to give me a head start and a chance because if I go homeless, I fear I may not be able to survive it due to my medical needs and issues.

I have a support group, a very loving and kind support group that means the world to me, but they are states away from me and I can't leave my current state with my disability case in the works right now. And as much as they love and support me, they themselves are not able to do as much as they would like for me, but they have stood by me and helped me reach out to multiple resources and even helped me get my EBT set up. But this is my one Hail Mary, a saving grace that can help me right now. I'm not one to ask, I'm very big on trying to figure things out and work as hard as possible to take care of things myself, but right now I am not able to since I can't work and I have no means to provide for myself or my kitties and it would be an absolute blessing if for any and all that can be given in this time of need for me and my cats to help me find a place to call home.
