This past summer, I noticed some rough, red patches on my skin and then a red flaky spot on my face. After biopsies by the dermatologist, I was diagnosed in September with Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma. The good news is we caught it very early at Stage 1A. This is a very rare type of cancer affecting about 6 people per one million and is even more uncommon in women. Since that time, I have been treated by doctors at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa and Orlando Health Cancer Institute in Orlando. The spots on my body are being treated with prescription ointments, but the spot on my face had progressed to mycosis fungoides, which required radiation therapy. I received four radiation treatments the week before Christmas, and the doctors will be continuing to monitor my progress to determine if more treatments are needed. While my prognosis is good, this will be an ongoing battle as there is currently no cure.
During this time, my mindset has been to stay positive and expect the best, which has helped me get through a very difficult situation. However, even with a positive attitude, it is hard not to feel overwhelmed with all the medical bills that keep coming. Because of this, I am humbly asking for your support in my fight if you are so inclined. If not, I would greatly appreciate any positive thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
