My name is Dustin, and I’m starting this fundraiser for my mom (Leanna) and my grandmother (Mamaw).
The past couple of weeks have been overwhelming for our family. Mom has been in the hospital with serious health issues. We still don’t have a set diagnosis, and her condition seems to be getting worse. Our biggest concern right now is getting her healthy, but we don’t know what road we’re about to have to take. Because of the uncertainty, Mamaw has decided to stay at the hospital with her basically around the clock in case anything were to happen which has taken her out of work as well. We are doing this in rotations to hopefully keep Mamaw able to work as much as possible, but when your child is in the hospital, we all know how that goes, no matter their age.
To make matters worse, just days before Mom went into the hospital, a water line in Mamaw’s home busted and flooded the entire upstairs. Her house is gutted, and she’s paying $600 a week out of pocket to stay in a hotel while waiting for insurance reimbursement. That alone would be a heavy burden, but missing work on top of it has made things nearly impossible for her to manage financially.
Mom is also out of work and will fall behind on her car payment and insurance if she’s hospitalized much longer... Normally, we would do everything we could to keep paying her through our family’s pool store, but with both Mom and me out, the business income has been cut nearly in half. The store is being held down by my business partner and one pool tech who are doing their absolute best, but there’s only so much two people can do in a business that requires people in the storefront and the field. Without that normal income coming in, there just aren’t extra funds available right now.
Between Mamaw’s hotel expenses, missed paychecks, and Mom’s bills starting to pile up, the financial strain is growing very quickly. Every donation will go directly to helping them stay afloat covering hotel costs, essential bills, and preventing things from snowballing while we focus on what matters most: getting Mom healthy.
We are so grateful for the prayers, love, and support we’ve already received. Thank you for lifting our family up during this difficult time.
