Help Leann with Treatment for Functional Neurological Disorder
In February 2024, after a long 4 years with endless doctor's appointments and no answers, Leann was officially diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). Leann is a 49-year-old single mom with 1 teenage daughter, 3 adult sons, and many grandkids who adore her. Due to FND, she has been unable to work for the past 4 years, and her symptoms have gotten worse. Daily, she has muscle spasms, weakness, confusion, exhaustion, nausea, and light and eye sensitivities. Northwestern neurologists are referring Leann to two specialized treatment centers in Chicago for FND that her insurance will not cover. If Leann does not have this treatment, she is expected to be in a full care facility in 3-5 years.
Once treatment starts, she will be traveling from Bloomington, IL to Chicago, IL 3-5 days a week. The cost for these treatments is $40,000 out of pocket, not including other expenses such as food and gas. Treatments would take 4-8 hours a day for 6-8 weeks. Her neurologist would like for treatment to end by mid-March.
Unfortunately, due to Hurricane Helene in September 2024, Leann’s rental property, her condo, in Clearwater, FL was destroyed. Although Leann has two insurance policies on her condo, one being Hurricane Insurance, neither will pay for loss of income. She filed a claim with her insurance companies; she was denied with one but is waiting to hear back on her Hurricane Insurance. She filed the claim as soon as she could and has not heard back on a final say. It’s been 3 months—meaning 3 months of loss of income. This, including her disability and rental property in Tennessee, is Leann’s income while she is unable to work and as a single mom. The longer this continues, the more financial debt Leann is in.
We are asking for your donations for Leann to start treatment so she can recover as best as possible and to get her out of the financial debt from her loss of income.
We thank you in advance!
