Support LeAnn and Mike's Road to Recovery

On May 21st, my parents, LeAnn Schenk and Mike Schenk, were in a tragic car accident. They were T-boned by a full-size truck at 55 mph with no brakes enforced, impaling LeAnn’s side of the vehicle. This tragedy has flipped our worlds upside down. Mike was in the hospital with internal bleeding, then underwent rehabilitation and was able to get released three and a half weeks later so he could get back to work, keep his insurance active, and be at the hospital with our mom during this time.

LeAnn, on the other hand, suffered a severe skull fracture, brain bleed, and traumatic brain injury. She underwent emergency brain surgery to remove half of her skull on the left side to allow her brain to swell. They took every measure necessary to keep her alive. She was in a medically induced coma for 6 days and continued to stay in her own self-induced coma for 3 weeks. She is starting to wake up from the coma, but she has very low brain function right now and it's going to take months, if not years, to repair, pending the brain can repair itself and give her quality of life followed by an extremely long road of therapy, rehabilitation, and support.

With the accident, she is unable to continue her passion for hairstyling and bringing in any sort of income, leaving Mike to take this on all on his own with the medical bills increasing with no end in sight. It will be the hardest thing ever endured for LeAnn, Mike, and our whole family. She is the core of this huge family of ours. The one who needs us more than ever. As we now understand the extensive road to recovery this is going to be, I am trying to help in any way possible to alleviate the stress of this financial burden it is going to place on Mike.

We’ve had countless people ask how they can help and as much as I didn’t want to revert to this, I’ve now come to the terms it is crucial in their recovery back to as normal of a life as they can achieve. The prayers, love, and support have been monumental in this road they’re on, we appreciate every single one of you guys. All funds raised will be going directly to Mike and LeAnn to help with financials, medical bills, the aftercare, and everything else this will entail. The goal is to take as much financial stress off them as possible as this tragedy alone has changed their lives completely. Thank you all for everything you’ve done. LeAnn is the most selfless person in the world. Her whole world is revolved around family, friends, and helping anyone she possibly can in any way. It is our turn to be there for her and help them navigate through this horrific time in our lives. She is the least deserving person to be going through this but also the strongest, most determined person to be going through this. Thank you all so much.
