Hi there! My name is Leah Kennedy, and I’m a graduating Division 1 track and field athlete from Tulane University. As an athlete, coming to terms with the end of your sports career isn’t just hard—it’s absolutely gut-wrenching. The countless hours of training, the blood, sweat, tears, failures, and triumphs you pour into your sport become a part of who you are. Then one day, it’s over.

But what happens to those of us who don’t go pro? What happens when the cheers fade, and the identity you’ve built around your sport is no longer there?

These are the stories I want to tell with Almost Pro—a series that shines a light on the struggles, heartbreak, and resilience of athletes like me who have to figure out what’s next.
