Support LC Amigo, Mark Carruthers, After Borel Fire Loss
Donation protected
Los Caballeros Members and Amigos,
Last week LC Amigo Mark Carruthers and his family lost their home and cattle (except their tough-as-nails bull) in Havilah, California to the Borel Fire up near Lake Isabella. The cover photo shows what is left of their home.
We are thankful that the entire family is safe. But now Mark and Heather, and Hannah, Matthew, Sarah and John are facing the daunting task of finding temporary housing and cleaning up and rebuilding.
Mark is a perfect representation of what we all aspire to in the cowboy creed. Despite losing his home and herd, his first update was that his family was safe and that they were going to clean up and rebuild. And his very next thought was getting the offer of help out on Facebook to anybody else affected by the Borel Fire that were unable to get into their safes to get their valuables, papers and family heirlooms. Mark can explain that particular skill set at a later date over a campfire and some beers--we're not in the habit of asking possibly delicate questions of firearms instructors.
Everybody who has had to deal with insurance after a significant loss knows that you're never made whole--it's not just the deductible but the loss of things that just can't be accounted for on a claim form.
In that spirit, we are asking those that are willing and able to help Mark to donate through this platform to help alleviate some of the stress that the Carruthers Family is facing as they rebuild their home and herd.
Thanks,
Drew Davidson, Amigo

8/3 response from Mark on behalf of his family after we surprised him with the GoFundMe news: “You guys are truly amazing. It is hard for a dumb redneck like me to accept anything that could be considered charity, let alone actual charity. But I also know that people want to help, and given my family’s present circumstances I won’t stand in the way of that.
I know I’m just an “Amigo” this year and not a full fledged member, but I feel truly blessed to be part of such an awesome group of guys! The friendships I’ve already made within Los Caballeros, especially with my Amigo Brothers, are dear to my heart. I thank you and my family thanks you! God bless! “
