Help Support Layne Schildroth in His Recovery Journey from an Unexpected Medical Emergency: Open Heart Surgery

Dear Friends and Family,

I hope this message finds you well. I'm reaching out to you with a heavy heart to share the story of my dear friend, Layne Schildroth, who I consider a brother. In 2021, Layne was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and underwent a thyroidectomy. As he was preparing for his routine radioactive iodine treatment, his doctors discovered a serious issue with his heart, prompting them to delay the procedure. They identified troubling markers in his blood work that indicated heart failure.

Recently, Layne faced the unexpected and harrowing experience of undergoing major open-heart surgery—not once, but twice in one day. His "widow maker" artery was found to be 100% blocked, while two others were 80% blocked, resulting in six bypasses. This was a crucial procedure, and it has left him with a long road to recovery ahead. Although he is now home and showing signs of improvement, the uncertainty of what lies ahead weighs heavily on him. He should not be burdened with the stress of providing for his family during this challenging time.

As with many medical emergencies, the financial burden has become overwhelming. Medical bills and expenses related to his care are already starting to pile up, just one day after returning home from the hospital. At only 48 years old, Layne has so much life left to live, yet this situation has left him unable to work for an unknown period. As a self-employed individual, he does not have access to benefits like sick leave or disability, making this situation even more challenging. He urgently needs to begin cardiac rehabilitation to support his recovery.

We are seeking your generosity and support during this difficult time. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward covering Layne's medical expenses and alleviating some of the financial stress that he, his wife, and their children are experiencing.

If you're unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this campaign within your networks. Your thoughts, prayers, and encouragement mean the world to us.

Thank you for taking the time to read Layne’s story and for any support you can provide. Let's come together to help Layne on his journey to recovery!

With heartfelt gratitude,
