We have just picked Layla up. She's alligator rolling in the kennel :( my poor baby.
Hello, my name is Destiny, and my fiancé is Tasha. This year has started off incredibly rocky for our little family.
Many of our close friends and family already know what’s been going on, but for those who don’t know us. I have been in and out of hospitals and undergoing surgery for my own health. I am still far from recovered and currently have very limited mobility. I can’t get around well, can’t take our dogs out on my own, and struggle to care for myself day-to-day at the moment.
While I was literally under anesthesia during my surgery, Tasha received a call from our veterinarian with biopsy results we had been anxiously waiting for. The news was devastating.. Our baby girl Layla (our cat we've had since she was a wee baby) was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer, a type of soft tissue sarcoma.
The only option we had to give her a fighting chance and to maximize our time with her was to get her leg amputated, and though thats a hard decision we made it without hesitation, we chose to fight for our girl.
Tasha has already had to take time off work and make major adjustments to care for me during my recovery. Now, with Layla’s amputation, she will need to take even more time away from work to be home during Layla’s most critical healing period. I am physically unable to care for a newly amputated cat, manage her medications, prevent jumping, or keep our dogs and other animals safely separated — especially while I can barely care for myself.
Tasha has been carrying the weight of everything; our household, our animals, and most of all our bills — but we’ve reached a point where we simply cannot do this alone anymore.
The funds raised will go directly toward Layla’s RECOVERY needs Including:
(she's had the amputation.. 1/20/26)
•Post-op medications
•A supportive sling to help her move safely
•A soft stair set to prevent jumping (which she loves to do and is now very dangerous)
•Allowing Tasha to stay home during the most critical first week or two of Layla’s healing without the added stress of lost income
The first week or two after surgery are the most important for Layla’s recovery, and having the proper support in place will give her the best chance at healing — and give Tasha and me some much-needed breathing room during an already overwhelming time.
Any support, whether through donations or sharing our story, truly means more than we can express. Thank you for helping us care for our girl and get through this incredibly difficult season
