Hi my name is Katie, I’m setting up this fundraiser to help support my best friend Rachel and her husband Jason and their children Logan aged 3 and Layla aged 1 after Layla’s recent cancer diagnosis.

on March 24th, following a year long wait to be seen at the eye hospital, Rachel and Jason’s world got turned upside down wen they were told Layla had cancer and she has lost all her vision in her eye and may need a enucleation to remove it.

Retinoblastoma is a rare aggressive form of eye cancer primarily effecting children under 5 years old. As a result of this there are only 2 hospitals in the uk that are equipped to treat this type of cancer. The family are having to travel to Birmingham 2/3 times a month for Layla to receive the specialist care needed to save her life. This includes overnight stays in a hotel for 2/3 nights at a time.

What follows now is 12-18 months of chemotherapy, monthly examinations under anaesthetic, MRI scans and endless hospital trips back and forth to Birmingham.

with all the added expenses for traveling and accommodation and Jason having to take time off work, the family are feeling the financial pressures so I’m hoping this fundraiser will help relief this and give them one less thing to worry or think about.
