Support Law360 Union Workers On A ULP Strike

Donation protected
UPDATE: The unionized workers at Law360 are now on an open-ended ULP Strike as of midnight on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Following two weeks of marathon bargaining, Law360 management and LexisNexis executives continued to demand unionized workers accept paltry raises amid historic inflation and accept a healthcare plan that would drastically increase costs after rejecting the union’s proposed healthcare plan, which would save both sides thousands of dollars.

Going on a ULP strike means we are losing our paychecks for the duration of the strike. While this is an important sacrifice in order to win a fair second contract, many members with stagnant salaries during negotiations will need help getting by.

Members will be able to request funds, which will be disbursed by unit members Drashti Mehta and Alyssa Aquino. This fundraiser is member-led and is not affiliated with the NewsGuild of New York, which may not raise money outside of the dues it collects from members.

Our hard-working members don’t deserve to face financial hardship for fighting to get the contract they deserve. We’re thankful for your donations, which will help us win this fight.

Law360 unit members are continuing to fight for a fair contract and are ready to strike in September unless management agrees to a fair contract and stops violating the law. The company has committed numerous unfair labor practices (ULPs), including mid-negotiation layoffs and unilateral changes to healthcare plans, resulting in the union filing ULP charges with the National Labor Relations Board. The members of the Law360 union have been bargaining over a second contract with LexisNexis and Law360 management since Nov. 17, 2022, and are fed up with the company’s miserly, greedy proposals and mistreatment of the workers that make the publication great.

Following our one-day ULP walkout in December 2023 demanding Law360 management and LexisNexis executives stop the delays and threats at the bargaining table, a second one-day walkout in March protesting the company’s decision to illegally lay off 10% of our newsroom, and a 96% strike authorization vote, management not only continues to stonewall at the table on issues that affect our members’ livelihood, including healthcare and wages, but has proposed to claw back the just cause protections established in our first contract.

Going on a ULP strike means that we are losing our paychecks for the duration of the strike. While this is an important sacrifice in order to win a fair second contract, many members with stagnant salaries during negotiations will need help getting by.

Members will be able to request funds, which will be disbursed by unit members Drashti Mehta and Alyssa Aquino. If we do not strike or need all of the funds raised, we will donate the extra money to another labor cause or strike fund.
