Hi, my name is Laverne Lewis. Life can take unexpected turns, and at just 43 years old, I received a life-changing diagnosis: colon cancer.
It all started with mild stomach pain and needing to rush to the bathroom after eating. I thought a change in diet might help, and for a while, it did. But in November 2024, during an MRI for my liver, the doctors discovered something more serious. That MRI may have saved my life by catching the cancer early.
Further tests confirmed the diagnosis, and now I'm preparing to start chemotherapy. This journey is just beginning, but it’s already been overwhelming—physically, emotionally, and financially.
I’m self-employed and take great pride in my work, helping my clients create beautiful and welcoming homes. However, with this diagnosis, it’s becoming harder to balance work and treatment. I’m also a proud mother to my daughter, who lives with me and is my biggest source of strength and motivation to keep fighting.
I’m reaching out for support to help cover the costs of treatment, transportation, and daily living expenses as I focus on my health and recovery. Any contribution, big or small, will bring me closer to healing and ease some of the burden during this challenging time.
Thank you for reading my story and for any support you can offer. Whether it’s a donation, a kind message, or sharing my fundraiser, I’m deeply grateful.
