THIS IS WHERE FOLLOWING IMMIGRATION LAW LANDS YOU—STRIPPED OF DIGNITY, SWALLOWING YOUR PRIDE, AND BEGGING FOR HELP.
My name is LAURA (aka Laurie) Higgins Dolce. In 2017, I contacted Michelet Dolce for a business opportunity I felt could help Haitians have a better life. Well, it turned out he was an advocate for humanity too, and we shared the same goals. We fell in love and I visited him in Haiti twice!
in 2018 filed our K-1 fiancé visa, and our application was approved.
Sadly, gang violence shut down the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince, and we couldn’t get the final visa interview to bring him here legally. Michelet eventually came to the USA under Biden’s Humanitarian Parole Program, but when Trump ended the program, he lost his work permit, leaving us with half our income gone.
At the same time, I lost my disability income from work and became totally disabled. I’m not well enough to move, and we’ve been trying desperately to hold onto our home.
We did everything legally, filing every form and paying every fee to get my fiancé—now my husband—here from Haiti. Now he must wait 3–7 months for a new work permit.
While both our I-130 and I-485 are pending for his green card approval. Should be called a gold card!
Meanwhile, I have undergone three major knee surgeries to avoid let amputation due to an infection. Michelet has been my caretaker for our first year of marriage.
We are both very prideful people, and it kills us to ask for help, but we have no choice if we’re to save our home and cover medical bills until he can work again.
We’re not looking for charity forever—just help to stay afloat. Thank you in advance for any support you can give us. And please consider subscribing to my new business channel, LegalDocs4Immigrants, as we start out, to help other immigrants stay legal and informed.
Our email is [email redacted] if you know anyone in need!
God Bless You!
