I’m starting this GoFundMe for my dear friend, Laurie Bell. Not only is she a devoted teacher, but most importantly a loving mother who has just experienced the unimaginable loss of her only child, Karrington Monroe. Karrington fought breast cancer with incredible courage and strength until her very last breath. For the past year and a half, Laurie stood faithfully by her side—hoping, praying, advocating, caring for, and loving her through every step of the fight. Now, Laurie faces a new and heartbreaking chapter. She needs time at home to grieve, to rest, and to begin adjusting to life after such profound loss. In the midst of this, the burden of final expenses, funeral costs, time away from work, and everyday living expenses can quickly become overwhelming. A little about Karrington: Karrington began working at AVUSD at just 16 years old. She quickly discovered a deep love and commitment for students with special needs and their families. With the unwavering support of her own family, her AVUSD family, and friends, her passion for special education was encouraged, nurtured, and supported. She was only a few months away from earning her master’s degree and securing a permanent position as a school psychologist. Karrington was one of the kindest and sweetest people you could ever meet—always encouraging, uplifting, and supportive of others. Her love, kindness, and devotion to her family, friends, and work will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. And although the void she leaves behind can never be filled, if we all lived, gave, and loved the way Karrington did, the world would truly be a better place.
