Support Laurie After Richard's Sudden Passing

Donation protected
Hi, friends! Sad to be passing on the news of Laurie's husband, Richard (aka Bear), who passed suddenly this week. Laurie is taking care of Bear's brother who needs care and she's also going through some health issues at this time. There are also some legal expenses coming up to get Laurie secure with home, car, and care for her brother-in-law and the estate.

Obituary: It's with a heavy heart that we announce the departure of Richard Lee Quesenberry, who peacefully yet unexpectedly passed away on January 20th, 2025, at his residence in Laurel Fork, VA. The family is saddened and shocked by the passing of Richard at the young age of 57.
Bear, as he was affectionately known, was a shining light and a voice of compassion to those who had the privilege of knowing him. Bear's journey on this earth was marked by the special love he held for his life partner and wife of 29 years and their two children. His departure has left a void in the hearts of his loved ones, family, friends, and the many others whose lives he touched, including his community of herbalists who honored Bear for his tenderheartedness and words of wisdom. May his memory be a blessing.
Forever remembered and cherished by his wife, Laura Quesenberry, his two children, LoraLeigha Glassburner and Leighton Beaux Marchetta, and two grandchildren, Jeremiah and Talia Glassburner. He's also survived by three siblings, Margie Reed, William Quesenberry, and Thomas Quesenberry.
As a child, Richard grew up in Carroll County, where he enjoyed playing football, riding bikes, and cruising the local strip. After graduating from Carroll County High School, Class of 1986, Richard began working at Proctor Silex and worked there until the plant was closed. Finally able to follow his dream of being the first in his family to attend college, Richard graduated with honors from Rose State College in Midwest City, Oklahoma. After graduation, he worked as a technical draftsman.
Missing his childhood home, Richard moved back to Carroll County, where he enjoyed fishing, playing with his dog Rosie, riding the back roads, watching his favorite NFL team, the Cowboys, and spending time with his family and friends.
Services will be held at High Country Funeral Services on Tuesday, January 28th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to High Country in Galax to help offset the costs of Richard's services.
